Terms of Service

Day Tours Terms of Service:

Acceptance of the conditions detailed below as per Scottish Law and Custom is implied when a booking is made.

Payment – we accept Visa, Mastercard, Maestro and American Express.

Children and families – The minimum age for all tours is 5 years old. Please be aware there may be extended periods of travelling and the longer tours, in particular, may not be suitable for children. An accurate age for any child travelling is required so the correct and legal type of seating can be installed. An incorrect age entered may result in a refusal to travel. Please call us on 0131 228 2888 if you have any queries – we can advise you on the most suitable tours.

What’s included in the price? – the price quoted for each tour is inclusive of transportation and guiding only. Lunch and other refreshments are not included. Entrance fees to attractions, ferries and other transportation costs are not included.

Smoking – smoking is not allowed on the mini-coach.

Behaviour – we reserve the right to refuse to carry any person or persons whose behaviour is causing offence or alarm to others. In such cases full cancellation charges will apply.

Vehicles – we reserve the right to change the type of mini-coach used if the circumstances dictate this is necessary.

Luggage – luggage is limited to one small item per person.

Alterations to itineraries – we reserve the right to change timetables or tour itineraries due to weather, availability of attractions, roadworks or any other situation beyond our control. Refunds will not be offered in these circumstances.

Cancellations and refunds – where the passenger cancels a tour reservation, the effective date of cancellation will be the date on which we receive notification by telephone, email or in writing. Your notice of cancellation must be confirmed (in writing or verbally) as received by Heart of Scotland Tours Ltd to be effective. No refunds are offered if a customer is late for a tour/cannot find the pick-up point. Please be there 15 mins before the advertised departure time.

Cancellation charges for day tours are applied as follows:

  • Outwith 5 days of departure date – a full refund will be granted
  • Within 2 – 5 days of departure date – a full refund will be granted if the seat can be resold. Every effort will be made to resell the seat but a 50% charge will be applied if the seat cannot be resold. In the event of a tour being cancelled by Heart of Scotland Tours Ltd the customer will be fully refunded and every effort made to find a suitable alternative.
  • Within 24 hours of departure date – no refund

Heart of Scotland Tours Ltd reserves the right to cancel a tour if the minimum number of passengers has not been reached (normally around 5 passengers) or any other circumstances where we believe it to be necessary, e.g. dangerous weather conditions or other safety-related concerns. In such cases clients will be informed as soon as possible and offered either a transfer to another tour, a transfer to a similar tour with another tour operator, or a refund of any monies already paid to Heart of Scotland Tours Ltd.

Force Majeure – Heart of Scotland Tours Ltd does not accept liability for any event which is outwith our control. Such events may include (but are not limited to) war or threat of war, terrorist activity or the threat of terrorist activity, civil commotion or riot, any action taken by a governmental or public authority, industrial disputes, collapse of buildings, fire, explosion or accident, traffic or road conditions or road closures, technical or mechanical breakdown, adverse weather conditions, natural disasters and all similar events or circumstances.

Complaints – any complaints should be initially directed to your driver/guide who will make every effort to resolve the problem. In the event that a complaint cannot be resolved on the day of the tour then it should be made in writing to info@heartofscotlandtours.co.uk

Travel insurance – we strongly recommended you arrange comprehensive travel, medical and cancellation insurance.

Overnight Tours Terms of Service:

Acceptance of the conditions detailed below as per Scottish Law and Custom is implied when a booking is made.

Payment – we accept Visa, Mastercard, Maestro and American Express.

Accommodation – the tour price does not include accommodation. Choose from hostel (£20 to £30 per person, per night), B&B single (£50 to £90 per person, per night), en-suite B&B double/twin (£100 to £150 per room, per night – 2 sharing), en-suite B&B triple/quad (£150-£200 per room, per night – 3 or 4 sharing), or hotel (£150 to £200+ per room, per night – 2 sharing). Accommodation is pre-booked in your name and you pay your host on departure. Some accommodation will only accept cash and it is always a good idea to have cash when travelling in rural Scotland. Named accommodation is not possible at the time of booking. If booking by phone please tell us what type of accommodation you prefer. You are liable for the total cost of the accommodation in the event of you cancelling a tour or booking too many passengers.

We reserve the right to change the location of tour accommodation on Skye if Portree town has limited availability.

Accommodation in rural areas such as Skye can sometimes be located 10-15 mins walk from the town centre. Taxis are available if necessary.

Luggage – overloaded buses are dangerous and against the law. Please limit your luggage to a small suitcase, maximum weight 15kg per person. If you are returning to the same accommodation in Edinburgh they may store your excess luggage. There are left luggage facilities at Waverley Station (10 mins walk from our pick-up point at Waterloo Place). We reserve the right not to carry luggage that we believe to be overweight.

Private Tours Terms of Service:

Acceptance of the conditions detailed below as per Scottish Law and Custom is implied when a booking is made.

Payment – we accept Visa, Mastercard, Maestro and American Express. A 25% non-refundable deposit (of the total tour cost) secures a booking. The remaining 75% balance is payable no less than 28 days before date of departure. A booking made within 28 days of departure requires payment in full.

Accommodation – the tour price does not include accommodation. Choose from hostel (£20 to £30 per person, per night), B&B single (£50 to £90 per person, per night), en-suite B&B double/twin (£100 to £150 per room, per night – 2 sharing), en-suite B&B triple/quad (£150-£200 per room, per night – 3 or 4 sharing), or hotel (£150 to £200+ per room, per night – 2 sharing).   • Within 28 days of departure date – no refund
