Andy at Preston Mill, East Linton |
I’ve done many jobs in my days, even managed to be an engineer for a while. But none of them can match being a tour guide for a small, friendly company like Heart of Scotland Tours.
Every day is different, the dramatic scenery changes with the mists and clouds and sun (occasionally it rains!), although the fascinating history remains the same.
I like to think that I show my love of this beautiful country when I’m guiding, but hopefully in a realistic and honest way. I look forward to sharing it with you.

I was raised in various little towns on both sides of the English/Scottish border country but almost all of my adult life has been spent here in Edinburgh. Driving is something I do to relax, so it's no chore turning up for work each day, especially when you know you're going to be driving a superb minicoach through some of Scotland's most spectacular scenery.
As we tour through the landscape I will also guide you through Scotland's history and culture with a soundtrack of contemporary and traditional music. All in all, I can never get over the fact that guiding clients around my beautiful country is something I actually get paid to do! What's not to love about this job?

Bill |
I really enjoy sharing Scotland's landscape, history and wildlife with visitors from all over the world. My background is varied, a jack of all trades...the ideal qualification for a guide.
I studied Ecology and Biological Science at university and have worked in environmental education and woodland management. I have sailed extensively around the west coast of Scotland.
In recent years I have developed a burning interest in Scottish history. I love a good story and story-telling is in our blood. It brings our past, the places we visit and our ancestors to life.

Colin |
Some say Colin is very lucky. He spends his summers driving around Scotland showing visitors this beautiful land and the winters in the French Alps snowboarding.
Lucky or not, Colin’s year is taken up with his great passions – Scotland, its history and the mountains. From Highland stock, Colin was actually born in Thailand and grew up in Jamaica. On returning to Scotland as a youth he knew he had come home. He fills his spare time hill-walking, paragliding and scuba diving and when stationery has been known to enjoy a fine malt.

John |
I live with my wife Susan and daughter Claire near Edinburgh. In the summertime, we love to visit the seaside and walk along the beach, usually eating ice-cream!
When I have time, I love to play golf on the beautiful courses Scotland is famous for, go to the theatre or just relax in the garden listening to my collection of Beatles records!
Hope to see you on the next tour!

Jamie |
Jamie has been a tour guide all over Scotland for over 6 years and is never happier than when he is stomping around the mountains of his beloved highlands.
Originally from the 'Gateway to the Highlands' he has lived in Edinburgh for 10 years apart from time spent traveling the world in search of shenanigans.

The journey began in 2001 when I started Heart of Scotland Tours in the ‘Wee Red Bus’, offering value-for-money guided bus tours around Scotland. Although the business has successfully expanded over the years our ethos remains exactly the same – 5 star tours proudly delivered by a small friendly team. Our guides are wonderful ambassadors for their country.
11 years young, we are still enthusiastic and passionate about Scotland, her stunning landscape and fascinating history. We have remained a relatively small business allowing you, the customer, to enjoy a personal experience which is second to none. You’ll talk to ‘real people’ when you book and meet ‘real characters’ behind the wheel. Why not join our community of delighted customers on a Heart of Scotland Tour and experience the essential Scotland for yourself!

A native of the north east of Scotland, I worked in the oil industry in Aberdeen for 25 years before moving to Edinburgh.
I became part of the Heart of Scotland Tours admin team in 2004 and subsequently began my new career in tourism!
I really enjoy chatting to our customers from all corners of the globe and in my spare time like to take long walks with my husband and our dog in Edinburgh’s wonderful parks or along the beautiful coastline to the east of the city.
